Artist Statement - why I do what I do with my images

For more than 25 yrs, I've been blessed with the opportunity to travel and see some of GOD's grandest creations, snapping photos along the way. But, too often, the photos didn't match the memory of the moment. In 2012, I decided that must change or stop taking photos.

The "Why!" became a powerful factor in the next 2 yrs of my photography journey to understand the "Why!!!"

The process began by realizing that EVERY Camera has it's limitations, it's understanding what they are and how to over come it's limits. Then buying new equipment, joining a camera club in Baton Rouge, following other photographers on YouTube, self-teaching myself software and then understand how to gather the data needed to "Recreate the Moment" It all starts at the moment I setup to take the photo.

I came to the realization that GOD blessed us with eyes and a brain to process the world around us. Then I realized that I see things in a more artistic way than I ever knew.

Now I gather the digital image data of that moment, go back to my studio and work with software to find that "something" that matches how I see that moment in my mind's eye. Much like a painter, sees the world but what goes on the canvas is what they see in their mind.

All my images have some modifications, some very little and other allot. The post processing changes by the image. I work until the image "feels like that moment".

This is an example of the most extreme case but the image I see in my mind of that moment. I hope you see the same and enjoy!
